India's politicians are misguided about it's priorities.

Growing up, we’ve witnessed how the word ‘politician’ has been used. Contrary to the actual expectations, we’ve always seen politicians as the most cunning amongst us. However, amidst all of these beliefs and ideas we have about politicians, we as citizens always expect justice and humanity from them. We see them as the leader who’d be instrumental in solving social issues and also protect us.

During this global pandemic, people around the world need protection and a functioning healthcare system. We’ve helplessly bombarded all our hopes and expectations to the politicians, hoping to not see our loved ones struggling with the basic amenities. However, it is clear as crystal that our leaders care for us enough to not take any solid steps towards it. Opposition, despite having a strong stance on the mishandling of the situation, refuses to put a helping hand forward. However, the same opposition definitely loves to put their helping hands forward to spread dangerous, fake news and to put distrust in the already frightened citizens. We ourselves, as citizens, complain about systematic problems such as the education system, the upliftment of women and children, the biased laws against men, poverty and so much more. It is expected from our government, politicians and social workers to raise their voices against these unjust practices and work against them, as an ideal politician should. However, now we’re expecting humanitarian work only from those fellow citizens, with whom we’re sharing our pains and struggles.

Social Media has played an influential role of criticizing politicians where they deserve to be bashed. Alas, these critical words seem to fly past their ears. Despite these, instead of doing a proper ground work, they decide to politicize their issues and start a frustrating blame-game. The same politicians we expect humanity from, seem to lose their dignity and humanity when they keep their own supporters in danger. From protests to religious gatherings, politicians break the rules they themselves created. Politicians fail to realize that their non-existent actions speak louder than their bountiful words.

Our Indian leaders also love to use the same ideas their oppressor once used; Divide And Rule. Even in these awful, tragic times, where we should unite and fight such a terrible situation, they’ve made sure to exaggerate irrelevant events and create a division of political ideologies, religions and so much more. Media has happily contributed in demonizing a group of people. Unfortunately, our doctors and health-care workers are not exempted from our beloved leader’s hateful words.

While our position in the pandemic worsens, the audacity of some politicians has become unbearable too. Needless to say, it is time we reform our political parties and demand our respect back from them. The first step is questioning our leaders’ authenticity and statement. We’ve all got to be bold from within to get what we deserve; honest and competent leaders.

  1. Even a teenager can feel the illogical behaviour of politicians, but alas they can't change themselves
